Expekt Bookmaker Review – Read our Sportsbook Rating
The bookmaker Expekt (Expekt Gaming Limited) was founded in 1999 and previously had its headquarters located on the island of Malta, but is currently operating from the British overseas territory of Gibraltar. The organization behind sportsbook provided by www.expekt.com is the Betclic Everest Group which not only runs Expekt, but also two other bookmakers: Betclic and bet-at-home.
Expekt already has, according to its own information, more than 1.5 million registered customers, primarily in Europe and is available in up to 12 different languages. Expekt not only offers sports bets and in-play betting, but also casino games, a live casino, poker rooms and online slots.
The results of the OpenOdds Expekt Bookmaker Review.
Expekt has recently been surpassed by several other bookmakers who were founded later and who are simply more innovative. It will still be exciting to see how the Expekt will develop since the renowned Betclic Everest Group has taken over. The focus of the sports bet and in-play betting offers at Expekt is of course Europe's number 1 favourite sport: Football. Expekt has chosen the path of least resistance as a bookmaker and appeals to both novices and sports betting professionals.
Opinions of Expekt differ, on the one side, there are broad solid odds for football bets to be praised and on the other there are several crucial areas (in-pay betting and user-friendliness of the website) which are in dire need of improvement.
Within the extensive OpenOdds bookmaker review Expekt did not have to just measure up to a couple of other sportsbooks, but with all of the heavyweights of the industry. With so much competition the Expekt rating is at the mid ranks with its 81 out of 100 possible points.
Expekt experiences: The strengths of this British bookmaker.
- A competitive and comprehensive football betting offer.
- The football bet offer includes even lower-division leagues.
- One would do well to bet on superior teams and clear favourites at Expekt.
- A novice-friendly bookmaker where it is possible to place bets with just as little as €0.10.
- Comparatively high maximum bet amounts also make Expekt interesting for professional sports bettors
Expekt Sportsbook Rating: An extensive Expekt review.
Just like its partner company Betclic from the Betclic Everest Group, Expekt also had to prove itself in the OpenOdds review for bookmakers. A ranking was created out of ten within each of the following 10 test categories for Expekt:
- Betting odds
- Customer service
- Sports covered
- In-play product
- Payment methods
- Other Products
- Betting limits
1.) Bonuses: There is always something interesting for existing customers.
As far as bonus offers for new customers and bonus programs for existing customers are concerned, there are no above average offers at Expekt. However, the rather short-term bonus specials offered by Expekt, which are often linked to specific sports types and to certain sports events, do make it worthwhile to regularly visit or login. For new customers, Expekt currently offers a 50% bonus for up to the ‘lucky’ number of €77. This means that the ideal deposit amount in order to take complete advantage of the current bonus would be €144. Before, the bonus can be played free, the amount must be bet at least 6 times and the bets placed must have odds of at least 2.00. The bonus expires after 60 days.
2.) Betting odds: Interesting for favourite bets.
In reference to betting odds and favourite bets, Expekt does quite well. However, Expekt is far behind other top bookmakers for underdog and for tie bets. The rather heavy focus on football hinders the OpenOdds rating of Expekt because many sports betting fans would also like to place successful bets after the football season. For Expekt bettors this is only available to a limited extent.
3.) Customer service: Competent but only available for 9 hours.
Everything is professional here, however Expekt experiences are never really exciting or even outstanding. There is a live chat available from 11:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m, but after this you will just have to settle for customer service via email. For example, if a question arises concerning bets or in-play betting relating to U.S. sports type which takes place during the evening hours, then you will just have to wait until noon the next day. A telephone hotline is not offered, this would greatly improve the Expekt experiences of many sports bettors as well as the score of this Expekt review.
4.) User-friendliness: Improved to a competitive level.
At this point, the OpenOdds team would like to praise Expekt. The extensive online experience of the Betclic Everest Group has helped to change the previously non-user-friendly and somewhat chaotic Expekt website into a solid online presence. The opinions pertaining to Expekt greatly differ, this is due to the fact that there is still a lot of work to be done as to transparency and usability. It is often the case that the desired information is not found all in one spot, but rather one must do some clicking and scrolling to find it.
5.) Sports covered: A lot of football, not a lot of other interesting sports types.
The bet offer provided by Expekt covers all important areas and is, as far as football is concerned, quite competitive even when compared to top bookmakers. For other sports types (basketball, baseball, ice hockey) the bet offer gets thin fast, but is still sufficient. Other sports types are offered, but the bet offer for these are very small. This weakness is somewhat balanced out by the large range of handicap, multiple and special bets available for football.
6.) In-play product: Not bad, but could be better.
The in-play betting offer provided by Expekt has its own menu item, this is something we quite enjoyed and find expresses awareness for an important trend. The offer itself could and should be improved upon by Expekt because the current form is only somewhat competitive compared to other top bookmakers. The evaluation of Expekt pertaining to in-play betting is saved by the betting odds and the bet offer. The betting odds, themselves, are pleasingly positive and special bets can be placed on games that are already in play.
7.) Payment methods: Credit card charges apply.
As far as payment conditions go, it would have been easy for Expekt to receive a perfect score of 10 points. But, a processing fee of 2.5% for making deposits with a credit card (MasterCard or VISA) puts this goal out of reach. To make up for this, Expekt has made it possible to use numerous payment methods and payment service providers. There are actually so many of them that the Expekt website can hardly find room for them all. Not only are Ecocard, Neteller, Skrill and WebMoney available, but also prepaid card options such as paysafecard and Ukash, as well as services such as Euteller, eKonto, Abaqoos, ewire, BankLink, iDeal, giropay and several others. Cash-outs are made using VISA, bank transfer or via Ecocard, Neteller, Skrill and WebMoney, here there are no additional fees not even for using credit card.
8.) Other products: Not the right place for sports betting enthusiasts.
If you are looking for online entertainment outside of the fascinating world of sports betting and live betting, then Expekt is not exactly a bad place to be. There is an extensive casino area which is divided into several sub-categories. Unfortunately, contrary to the desired casino classics such as Roulette or Black Jack, the dominating attractions here are online slots and video poker. For us sports betting enthusiasts this is not exactly what we are looking for. However, alongside the live betting area, there is also an interactive live casino area with Baccarat, Black Jack and Roulette. This is the Expekt experience we would like to have when conducting this review.
9.) Security: A serious provider who cares a lot about data protection.
10.) Betting limits: Novices are lured while experienced professionals are not turned away.
In reference to the betting limits, Expekt covers all target groups: from sports betting novices who are able to become familiar with the fascinating sports betting world thanks to minimum bets (from €0.10 up) to sports betting professionals whose bets can often reach three or four figure amounts. The maximum limit is currently at €55,000 which might be a little low for professional bettors, but is still a generous bet limit. Within the bet limit evaluation, opinions differ depending on the personal risk profile of the sports bettor.
