Sporting Index Review 2018 – Read our Bookmaker Rating in 5 Mins

Sporting Index began life in 1992 in London. It specialises in sports spread betting. As well as offering telephone and online betting, Sporting Index also offers wholesale services to gaming operators throughout the world. As a UK bookie, the focus of their website is those sports that UK fans would appreciate. Don’t be surprised to see sports including football (soccer), rugby union and league and cricket dominating the site promotions. But despite the name, it’s not all about sports at Sporting Index. The bookmaker also offers a variety of casino games, such as video slots and table games. There’s even a £200 Sporting Index bonus that we’ll talk about a little later in our Sporting Index review. So what is sporting index all about and is the site really one of the best online bookmakers out there? Read on to find out.

The result of the OpenOdds Sporting Index review

Although not a household name yet, there is certainly a lot to appreciate from this small betting provider. We’ve compared lots of Sporting Index reviews and each of them have said the same thing – in-play betting is king at Sporting Index. Sporting Index has dedicated their own section to in-play betting. Here, you’ll find lots of sporting markets available from horse racing to football and cricket. You can also watch all the sporting action using the live streaming facility. Some of the bigger bookmakers don’t have this option, so it’s nice to see a smaller site offering the choice. The site itself is solid, but a little difficult to navigate. By ironing out the layout issues which see the mobile app shoved to the bottom of the page and football betting placed under a sub-menu the site will become more streamlined. And that can only be a good thing. So how did Sporting Index rate compare to other bookmakers in our OpenOdds review? We’ll start with the sports betting bonuses.

Sporting Index: OpenOdds 10 Review Categories Comprehensive Rating Report Concerning This Top Bookmaker

All bookmakers thoroughly tested by the OpenOdds team, must prove themselves in the following 10 review categories, even Sporting Index!

01.Bonuses:New customers can grab £100 of free bets with Sporting Index

As its name suggests, Sporting Index focus on sports, and so it’s no surprise that they’ve got a great £100 welcome bonus for new players to try. You can use this on any sports spread betting. Whether you’re interested in premier league football, horse racing or cricket, you’re bound to find a bet for you. If you’re unfamiliar with spread betting, it’s where you bet on the movement of a sports market, rather than the markets themselves. So how do you use the free bet? Simply sign up on the site and £100 will be added to your trading account to play with. You have seven days to use the bonus, after which it expires. If you make a profit, it’s yours to keep, but you can’t withdraw the £100 given to you. A word of caution though, odds can go against you, so you can lose more than you bet. We find this bookie rating well for its bonus.

02.Customer Service:Plenty of ways to get in touch with Sporting Index

Getting in touch with the customer service team at Sporting Index is easier than you might think. You can chat to one of their customer support agents using the live chat facility between usual office hours. You can also email any enquiries to the customer support team, which is handy if you have any detailed queries. For those of you who prefer a more personal approach, there are telephone numbers available for UK and international customers. In the UK, the telephone line is free, meaning you can chat to an adviser for as long as you need. There’s also an FAQ section to help get you started, so if you’re wondering ‘how do I download Sporting Index’s app?’ or ‘how do I cash out with Sporting Index?’ you’ll find the details here. Overall, our Sporting Index rating is high for customer support.

03.Sports Covered:Our Sporting Index review: A great selection of sports for online or mobile play

There are 18 sporting categories on the Sporting Index homepage, as well as a Weekend Special page, where you’ll find one-off bets on weekend sporting events. Just click the option you’d like and you’ll be transported to that sports individual page using the drop-down menu. The bookie also has a great choice in in-play games where you can bet on sporting action currently underway. You can do this online by using the sporting index mobile betting service via the Sporting Index app, or by typing in the mobile web address. Click the sporting event you’re interested in and it will bring up a list of in-play betting options. For football, you can bet on total goals, shirt numbers, how many corners come up in a match and the number of bookings as well as general score guessing. Few sites offer spread betting like Sporting Index, giving the bookmaker a unique edge.

04.Payment Methods:Deposit with ease using card or online payments!

Making a Sporting Index deposit & withdrawal is simple. The site accepts all the usual options, such as Visa and Mastercard, debit card and Maestro, as well as online payment options Skrill and Neteller. You can even dust off your cheque book and pay by cheque, although payment will not hit your account until it’s cleared.
If you use a credit card to make your deposit, you’ll be charged a fee of 1.5%, which is a shame as many bookmakers have now eliminated deposit fees. Be sure to check your credit card provider’s terms too, to avoid getting hit twice by charges. Withdrawal options are as above, but no fees are charged for these transactions. A cap of £500 is allowed for Neteller and Skrill transactions. With other options there are no limits. The bonus of using these though, is that cash is sent quickly as opposed to credit and debit cards which take up to 10 days to process.

Payment Methods Available

05.Security:Is Sporting Index safe? Check our site security using our Sporting Index review

Is Sporting Index safe? You’ll be pleased to know that Sporting Index ticks all the right boxes with regards to safety in our Sporting Index review. Based in the UK, the site comes under the UKGC authority, one of the most reputable casino and sports betting authorities in the industry. Add this with their registration to the Financial Conduct Authority for spread betting and you can be sure that you’re dealing with a trusted business. In fact, the site has registrations coming out of their ears. As well as above, they’re also members of the ESSA which guarantees sports betting integrity. Sporting Index clearly displays their privacy policy, showing at a glance how your personal data is used on their site. This works hand in hand with their site security offered by Thawte and SSL encryption to keep personal data safe and secure from hackers and other nefarious users. So, is Sporting Index safe? We think so!

06.Betting Odds:A double-header of odds on spread betting

Next up in our Sporting Index sportsbook review are betting odds. To get an accurate reflection of the odds on offer we compared Sporting Index reviews with other bookmaker’s reviews to see how they size up. We were pleasantly surprised with the results of the betting odds comparison. Odds are focussed around spread betting, which means you’re given a buy and sell price on each market. The difference between the two is known as the spread. How much you win is determined by the accuracy of your bet. Say you were betting on the time of the first touchdown in an American football game and the buy and sell times were 13 & 14.5 minutes. You decided the touchdown would happen later in the game, so you bet £5 on the latter time of 14.5 minutes. Every 30 seconds after 14.5 you’d win an additional £5. Conversely, if one of the teams scored in under 13 minutes, every 30 seconds under 14.5 you would lose £5. While spread betting is an interesting way of playing, it would be nice to have fixed odds too for traditional bets.

07.User-friendliness:A new site overhaul needed for this bookies

Despite recently going under site improvements to bring the site up to modern standards, there are still some areas for improvement. The colour scheme could do with an overhaul to brighten the site up to make it more appealing. And as for the welcome offer, it needs to be prominently displayed rather than tucked away at the bottom and side of the screen so new players can see it. Our biggest bug bear is the mobile app, though. Providing a mobile app for android and iOS users is a great thing, but again the app links are at the bottom of the page. If you can’t download an app because your phone is incompatible, you can use the mobile website. The mobile app is a simpler version of the website, which sadly, looks even blander than the original. In short, the functionality is there but there are better betting apps out there.

08.In-play Product:Keep up with your bets using the live streaming option

There is no denying that the in-play product offered by Sporting Index is great. You can bet on a variety of sporting markets all over the world, with sports including tennis, golf and baseball. Again, betting on these markets is a slightly different affair to most bookmakers’ sites, which means brushing up on your betting strategies. You bet for or against an outcome happening with spread betting, and this can bring bigger losses than your deposit. Unlike some of its competitors, Sporting Index offers live streaming on selected events so bettors can keep up to date with their event in real-time. This is a great feature; bringing the punter closer to the action for an immersive experience. It’s a shame that the streaming selection isn’t bigger, there are few events that utilise this option, but it’s nice to see it provided on their Sporting Index’s new and improved website.

09.Other Products:Take a spin at Sporting Index’s casino

As well as sports betting, Sporting Index also has a range of casino games, where new players can take advantage of a £200 welcome bonus. There are 130+ slot games on offer, including progressive jackpot games, Mega Fortune and Starburst. If you’re into sinister, spooky themes you can also play The Invisible Man or sink your teeth into the Dracula online slot for the chance to win big. Table games feature heavily on the casino site with blackjack and roulette dominating the selections. You’ll find high and low stake versions of the games, as well as multi-hand versions of blackjack for experienced players of the game. Baccarat, casino stud poker and pai gow make up the rest of the pack for a well-rounded table experience to suit all levels of expertise. The website’s excellent table and casino options see Sporting Index rating well on this offering.

10.Betting Limits:How much can you win daily with Sporting Index?

The minimum you can deposit at Sporting Index is £10. No maximum bet is given. Like all betting sites, the amount you can win depends on many variables. How much you are betting, whether high or low odds are offered, and the sport you are betting on all has an impact on the potential return. When playing virtual games, the maximum you can win in a 24-hour period is £100,000. Any bets placed after winning this amount will become null and void. On My Super Bankers market, this amount rises to £250,000. Oddly, the website has not specified their maximum winnings for sporting markets, although, of course, as mentioned earlier, this will vary depending on the odds offered. The numbers given above seem to be in line with many smaller bookmakers, although to compete with larger businesses such as Bet365, the daily win amount would need to rise to around £500,000.

Our Verdict of :Decent sportsbook

So now we’ve reached the end of our Sporting Index sportsbook review. Overall, Sporting Index did well. They may not have all the bells and whistles of the bigger sites, but all the basics are there for an enjoyable spread betting experience. The in-play offering benefits from the inclusion of live streaming, so players can see the action for themselves. They may not have the best free bets offers, but there is a deposit free bonus to get you started. So Sporting Index have plenty to offer in this competitive sports betting market.
