Arsenal will be looking for their fourth successive Premier League victory this afternoon when they host Everton at the Emirates Stadium. Unai Emery has made a steady start since replacing Arsene Wenger and he will be hoping for three points to move the side closer to the top four, which has to be the aim this season. The side are looking strong going forward and they will want to take advantage of Everton’s recent struggles.

That’s because, after a positive start, things haven’t gone so well for Marco Silva’s men in recent games. The suspension to Richarlison hit the side hard and they’ve struggled to pick up results in his absence. However, they will head to the capital as underdogs and that could work in their favour as they look to cause a shock.

Arsenal vs Everton Prediction: Arsenal 3-1 Everton

Arsenal are by no means the finished product at the minute but there are signs that they are getting there. Emery’s side look much more balanced in defence and midfield, whilst in Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette they have two lethal finishers who can win games at this level. Unfortunately for Everton, even with Richarlison back, they aren’t as clinical and whilst they will get chances their lack of quality in the final third compared to the Gunners should see the hosts emerge victorious.

Our recommended tip: Arsenal Win BTTS

Both teams to score has landed in every Everton game this season whilst it’s occured in every Arsenal game bar one. Therefore, it’s safe to say their should be goals at the Emirates this afternoon. However, it’s an odds-on choice, so punters would benefit more from including an Arsenal win in the selection. Every win under Emery this season has seen BTTS, whilst they look very suspect defensively, which Everton should exploit at least once. Yet, with Lacazette, Aubameyang and Mesut Ozil as attacking options, the hosts have the firepower to win an entertaining contest.

Previous matches

This is one of the oldest fixtures in English football and has been played in every Premier League season. The clash today will be the 211th meeting between the sides and it’s Arsenal who have unsurprisingly had the better of it over the years, winning 105 times to Everton’s 60. The Gunners have also won the last three games between the sides, scoring 13 goals in the process. That includes a 5-1 and 5-2 successes in the league last season.

Players to watch: Mesut Ozil & Richarlison

The German got himself on the scoresheet against Newcastle last week after a tough start to the season that was hampered by injuries and off the field issues from his retirment from the German national team. However, he appears more settled now and will want to do his talking on the pitch again. At his best, Ozil is fantastic creative midfielder and with Lacazette and Aubameyang making forward runs he could be the one to supply them with the chances to win Arsenal the game.

For the visitors getting Richarlison back on the pitch is massive. He was superb before his stupid red card against Bournemouth, with the Brazil international scoring three goals in as many games. He provides Silva’s side with a different dimension in attack and it can’t be underestimated how much he will improve the Toffee’s going forward.
