Brighton vs Burnley – Betting Tips & Predictions – 09-02

Last updated & checked: 10/08/2021

Burnley welcome Brighton & Hove Albion to Turf Moor on Saturday evening for what should be an interesting Premier League game for the live TV viewers on BT Sport. The Clarets have improved in recent weeks, and are unbeaten in their last six Premier League games. In their last four games in all competitions, though, they have drawn three and lost one. The defeat was pretty emphatic too, as they lost 5-0 at Manchester City in the FA Cup. Those draws include two useful away points collected from Watford and Manchester United, as well as home draw with Southampton in their last game.
Brighton’s last game was a 3-1 FA Cup replay victory away at West Bromwich Albion. Last weekend, they drew 0-0 at home to Watford, a result which ended a three-game winning run.

Brighton vs Burnley Prediction: Brighton 1-1 Burnley

Our prediction for this game is that it will end in a low-scoring draw. Both sides have had had a tendency to draw games in recent weeks, and that trend will continue, in our opinion. An away point would surely please Clarets gaffer Sean Dyche more than it would Seagulls boss Chris Hughton. Brighton haven’t won for five games in the Premier League, and it looks like that has become something of a hard-to-break habit for the Seagulls. Burnley have drawn their last three league games, and we predict that that trend will continue for the Lancashire outfit.

Our recommended tip: 1-1

Our featured tip for this game comes from William Hill, who are offering odds of 24/5 on the game finishing 1-1. Obviously, this bet matches our prediction for the final score, but it also offers some potentially good returns at a price of 24/5. Burnley have a drawing habit at the moment, while Brighton will not be feeling too confident after a recent run of pretty inconsistent results. Backing the game to end all square looks like a reasonably thing to do, and 1-1 seems like the most likely scoreline to us.

Previous matches

These two sides have met just three times in the Premier League era, though, obviously, they have a long history that goes back beyond the 1990s. Out of those three Premier League encounters, Burnley have won two and there has been one draw. The Seagulls are yet to beat West Ham in the Premier League.
The most recent meeting between the team was earlier this season in the Premier League. In the game at Turf Moor on December 8, the Clarets emerged as the winners. The final score was 1-0 in the home side’s favour, with James Tarkowski scoring the only goal of the game.

Players to watch: Glenn Murray & Ashley Barnes

Brighton’s veteran striker Glenn Murray continues to defy age and is his team’s current top scorer in the Premier League, having netted 10 times in 2018/19. Three of those goals have come from the penalty spot, and one has been scored with his head. Out of his 34 shots on target, 17 have been on target. Murray has missed just three chances all season. If the Seagulls need a goal, he can usually be relied upon to provide it.
Burnley striker Ashley Barnes is his team’s top Premier League goalscorer this season, having weighed in with six goals in 24 league appearances in 2018/19. The Austrian Under-20 international has also provided one assist for his team mates, as well as having created two big chances. Interestingly, he has not scored any goals with headers this season, instead scoring all but one of his goals with his right foot.
