Liverpool travel to South Wales on Sunday to face Cardiff City, with Jurgen Klopp’s Reds aiming for a sixth successive Premier League victory. Three points is vital for Liverpool, if they want to keep up the pressure on Manchester City in the race for the Premier League title. Cardiff are desperate for points, as they look to mount a last-ditch bid to avoid relegation. History is not on the Welsh outfit’s side, though, as the Bluebirds have not beaten Liverpool since 1959, when they won 4-0 at Anfield in Division Two – a game which was Bill Shankly’s first game in charge of the Reds.
City have also won just two of their last eight league games at home, losing five and drawing one during that run. Neil Warnock’s side are on a run of 18 consecutive Premier League defeats against sides in the current top-six in the table, so the stats are against them for Sunday.
Cardiff City vs Liverpool Prediction: Bluebirds 0-3 Reds
Our prediction for this game is that Liverpool will win easily, with the final score being 3-0 in favour of the away team. Cardiff have conceded a Premier League high of 33 goals at home this season, and do not have much defensive strength in the side, especially with the talismanic Sol Bamba being out injured. Liverpool, in contrast, are just one point away from equalling their club record Premier League points tally of 86. Given how tight the title race with Manchester City is, we suspect that Liverpool might run riot in this game.
Our recommended tip: Liverpool 3-0
Our featured tip for this game comes from Paddy Power. The Irish bookmaker is offering odds of 6/1 on our prediction of a 3-0 win for Liverpool turning out to be accurate. We think that this is a good bet, as the odds offer some decent value without being too long. The bookies have Liverpool as strong favourites for this game, so good odds are hard to find on many of the markets. Liverpool have scored 13 goals against Cardiff in three previous Premier League meetings, so 3-0 looks a good bet to us.

Players to watch: Victor Camarasa & Mohamed Salah
Cardiff midfielder Victor Camarasa has scored in his last two home Premier League matches, so will be heading into this game feeling confident. He managed just two goals in his first 12 home games in the Premier League, so his eye for goal has sharpened up in recent weeks. He has five goals and four assists to his name from 29 Premier League games in total in 2018/19. He has also created three big chances for his team-mates.
Mohamed Salah has the chance this weekend to become just the third Liverpool player to score 20 Premier League goals in a season in consecutive campaigns. Robbie Fowler achieved the feat in 1994/95 and 1995/96 and Luis Suarez in 2012/13 and 2013/14. The Egyptian forward has 19 league goals to his credit in 2018/19, 17 of which have been scored with his left foot. He has also weighed in with seven Premier League assists.
