Huddersfield Town, whose relegation from the Premier League was finally confirmed by their defeat to Crystal Palace last weekend, welcome Leicester City to the John Smith’s Stadium on Saturday afternoon. The Terriers have little to play for besides pride now, which could make them dangerous. Now that the pressure is off, the players can relax and potentially express themselves more effectively.
Brendan Rodgers has overseen a good run of recent form since taking over as Leicester manager from Claude Puel in late February. The Foxes have won their last three Premier League games, beating Bournemouth and Fulham at home, and Burnley away. Rodgers will want that run of form to continue this weekend, even though the Foxes’ chances of reaching the top six in the table have now effectively disappeared.
Huddersfield Town vs Leicester City Prediction: Terriers 0-2 Foxes
We predict that it will be the Foxes who will triumph over the Terriers in this clash of canines in Yorkshire on Saturday. Huddersfield have been the worst Premier League side since Derby County in the 2007/08 campaign this season, with their fans having very little to cheer after the surprise of staying in the Premier League last season. Leicester under Rodgers look like a solid team who are preparing for more progress next season, and they have too much quality for Town to cope with. We think that the East Midlands outfit will emerge as comfortable 2-0 victors from the contest.
Our recommended tip: City 2-0
Our featured tip for this game comes from Irish bookmaker Paddy Power. They are offering odds of 13/2 on our prediction of a 2-0 win for Leicester turning out to be accurate. We think that this is a good bet, primarily because it matches our prediction. We think that Huddersfield just will not have enough quality or mental strength to really trouble the Foxes this weekend. Leicester also have plenty of attacking quality in their line-up, with Jamie Vardy in good form, and should score at least two goals. The chances of Town scoring are minimal.
These two sides have met just three times previously in the Premier League, with Leicester winning twice and there having been one draw. The draw came in the teams’ first Premier League meeting, in September 2017, when the teams drew 1-1 at the John Smith’s Stadium. The second meeting in the 2017/18 season was at the King Power Stadium in January 2018, and was won 3-0 by Leicester.
City also scored three times in the previous meeting this season, which was at the King Power Stadium in September. The game ended 3-1 in the Foxes’ favour.

Players to watch: Karlan Grant & Jamie Vardy
Karlan Grant signed for Huddersfield from Charlton Athletic in January, and has become Town’s top scorer this season. The 21-year-old has scored three league goals in six appearances, and netted twice in the 4-3 defeat at West Ham United recently. In his spell at Town so far, he has managed 12 attempts on goal in the league, six of which have been on target. The Foxes will need to keep a close eye on him this weekend.
Former England striker Jamie Vardy remains Leicester’s main strike weapon. Vardy scored in the recent victories against Fulham and Bournemouth, adding to his Premier League tally of 13 goals in 27 appearances for the season so far. He has also weighed in with four assists, and has created five big chances for his team-mates. Three of his goals this season have come from the penalty spot, and 32 of his 61 attempts on goal have been on target.
