Bottom of the table Huddersfield face a big challenge if they are to secure their first win of the season with Tottenham next up against the Yorkshire side. Mauricio Pochettino’s men have stuttered at times this season but they are a high quality outfit who have top four aspirations. Whereas, it’s all about survival for the Terriers but even the most optimistic fan would acknowledge they are facing an uphill battle this season if their early season form is anything to go by, with the side struggling for goals and points. As for the visitors, they clung on to a much-needed win last time out and will need to build on that if they are to keep pace with the top sides in the division.
Huddersfield vs Tottenham Prediction: Huddersfield 0-2 Tottenham
With that in mind, this looks like one of the easier games to predict this weekend, with spurs boasting a squad and XI that is far superior to David Wagner’s men. In fairness, it should be as there is a financial gulf off the pitch too. Huddersfield have struggled on their own patch this season, with goals the major problem as mentioned. The one reason for hope though is that Spurs are prone to making mistakes, particularly on the road. They lost to Watford earlier in the season who adopted a physical, in-your-face approach and the hosts will try and follow suit.
Our recommended tip: Tottenham -1
However, we just can’t see a way that Huddersfield will beat this Spurs side. They have quality all over the park and can be devastating in the final third – even if Harry Kane is off form. Son-Heung Min and Lucas Moura have the ability to cause real problems for the hosts who are going to struggle to get much possession and will be relying on counter attacks. As the game progresses though, Spurs class should tell and in the end we expect a reasonably comfortable away victory.
Previous matches
Perhaps surprisingly to many, the Terriers actually have the better record in the head to head against Spurs, winning 16 times to the Londoners 13, whilst there have been 13 draws. Unfortunately though, most of those victories came along time ago and it has been a different story in recent years. Spurs took six points from the two Premier League games the sides have had last season, with convincing 4-0 and 2-0 successes.

Players to watch: Mathias Jorgensen & Harry Kane
If the hosts are to get anything from this game, they need a big performance from their defenders as they will be under pressure for large parts of the game. Since joining last season, Jorgensen has proven himself to be a very capable player and he will have to be at his best this afternoon. They don’t score many goals either, so there is extra pressure on that defence.
Even though he is struggling this season, the England skipper is still a top class player and he will be eager to silence a few critics who have popped up. He was rested for the midweek League Cup tie against Watford and will be refreshed and ready to go this afternoon. Kane enjoys playing the Terriers and could find his goalscoring touch again today.
