Manchester City suffered their first Premier League defeat of the season last weekend against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge, and they will want to rediscover their winning form against Marco Silva’s Everton team this weekend at the Etihad Stadium. The visitors have drawn twice and lost one of their last three league games, so the pressure is on the Toffees to find a positive result too. History might just be on the side of the Merseyside men, as City have conceded seven Premier League goals to Everton during the reign of Pep Guardiola as City boss, more than against any other side.
Manchester City vs Everton Prediction: Man City 2-0 Everton
If you have been scanning the odds for this game, you will see that the bookies do not give Everton much chance of coming away from Manchester with a positive result this Saturday. Everton have not won for three Premier League matches, and it is unlikely that they will improve that record this weekend. We feel that City will run out winners by at least two goals, given that they are at home. Everton just do not possess the quality to really test City, though they will surely fight hard and the goals may not come until late in the game.
Our recommended tip: City 2-0
Our featured tip comes courtesy of BetVictor this week, and it matches our prediction for how the game will turn out. We believe that City are going to be just too strong at home for Everton to cope with this Saturday, and that they will win the game 2-0. At odds of 8/1, the bookies also seem to agree that this is the most likely outcome, as the odds are shorter on this scoreline than for any other at BetVictor. Those odds are still pretty tempting, though, and will provide you with decent returns should you choose that particular bet.
Previous matches
Everton recorded a significant victory over Manchester City in early 2017, when they beat them 4-0 at Goodison Park. Since then, City have reached new heights of achievement, but they still tend to do less well against the Toffees than against other teams. City have won just two of their last seven games against the Merseyside club, and have managed to keep only one clean sheet in that run of matches. Everton have drawn their last three Premier League away games against City, and only four goals have been scored in those three matches.

Players to watch: Raheem Sterling & Lucas Digne
City winger Raheem Sterling has been directly involved in 26 goals for his club since the beginning of the 2017/18 season. Over the course of the last season and a half he has scored 17 goals and provide nine assists. That makes him a dangerous player, despite the often vituperative and uninformed criticism he has received from some quarters in recent times. Those contributions have come in just 21 Premier League games, too.
Everton’s French left back Lucas Digne scored his first goal for the Toffees last weekend, with his injury time free kick salvaging a point for the Toffees away at Watford. City will need to be careful about conceding free kicks around the penalty area with Digne around. The former Barcelona player has also chipped in with an assist this season, and has a passing accuracy of 66%, showing that he plays an important role in attack as well as defence.
