City may have failed in their quest to live the quadruple dream after their loss on away goals in the Champions League. But with the Premier League title and the Carabao Cup both being secured, all that stands in their way of achieving a treble is a Watford side that have been struggling in recent weeks. Man City have been close to perfect in 2019, and aside from that loss to Tottenham, they have won every game since their 2-1 loss to Newcastle in February.
Meanwhile, Watford come into this match following a trio of losses. We don’t want to talk down Watford’s achievements. They didn’t make it to the final by accident, after all. But facing a determined City squad that are on top form is a mountain to climb for any team in English football.
Manchester City vs Watford Prediction: Man City 2-0 Watford
Everything seems to be conspiring against Watford in this match. City have played at Wembley more often, are newly relaxed and confident following their Premier League triumph – while clearly maintaining their motivation, as we saw against Brighton – and have more momentum following several excellent performances compared to Watford’s recent letdowns. We think Watford will challenge them though. They are not the kind of team to simply accept defeat until the final whistle. However, we don’t think they will be able to resist the near unstoppable force of City’s attack. For those reasons, our scoreline prediction is 2-0 to Man City.
Our recommended tip: Manchester City win to nil
The home team are the clear favourites going into this FA Cup final round clash. At Ladbrokes, they have very low-risk 1/5 match odds compared to much higher risk 11/1 odds on a Watford win. However, Manchester City have won four of their last five matches without conceding a single goal. Considering this, we recommend that you wager they also manage to keep a clean sheet here in order to get a higher potential ROI. You’ll find good 10/11 odds at Ladbrokes on a Manchester City winning to nil result.
Unfortunately for Watford, if they are looking to the past for inspiration, they are going to have to look back an awfully long way. It was 1989, to be exact, when Watford last bested City in a 1-0 Division Two clash. Manchester City have won every game since then, with the exception of a duo of draws in 2006 and 2007. City won their last game 3-1 and even have a 6-0 victory over Watford from 2017, on top of holding the overall statistical advantage. There are few head-to-head histories as one sided as this.

Players to watch: Sergio Agüero & Gerard Deulofeu
Manchester City: Sergio Agüero
With only a couple of injuries afflicting Man City at the moment, there are plenty to choose from in their ever stacked roster of all-star players. We’ve decided, amongst stiff competition, to go with Sergio Agüero as our player to watch. That’s because he combines the electric ability to turn a game on its head at a moment’s notice – as we saw with his rebuttal to Glenn Murray’s goal in their Premier League winning match up against Brighton – with all around quality and consistency.
Watford: Gerard Deulofeu
Watford have defied a lot of expectations in this competition and one player who knows all about rising to the occasion is Gerard Deulofeu. His winning goal in extra time not only saw Watford see off Wolves in the semi-final to make it to this contest, but his success ratio in scoring has also improved dramatically in his last dozen or so games.
