Expekt Review 2021 – Our rating and experience with Expekt sports UK
Zuletzt aktualisiert & geprüft: 23.04.2021
Expekt.com first burst onto the scenes in 1999 in Sweden, but their main office is based in Malta employing over 150 people. The site was founded by entrepreneurs Conny Gesar and Christian Haupt and became one of the first sports betting operators from northern Europe to operate online. While they have customers from the UK, their largest market is based in the Nordics. They work with various sporting ambassadors throughout northern Europe such as Zibi Boniek and Sepp Piontek.
As well as offering sports betting, the site also has a healthy selection of other games such as poker, hundreds of slot games and a live casino. Live sports betting is also available on major sporting events such as the Australian Open and Wimbledon as well as football divisions such as the Serie A and Spanish Primera Division. For big games such as these video is also streamed so you can feel part of the action. So let’s take a look to see if there’s any kind of Expekt bonus available.
The result of OpenOdds Expekt Sportsbook review
So we all know that we can’t be perfect 100% of the time, but sadly this site just wasn’t there on so many categories when we compared them to other sites we’ve experienced. While Expekt does have a great selection of sports to choose from when placing your bets, customer service and a lack of readily available information on site made this an awkward place for a new player to make themselves at home. Plus the absence of a Expekt bonus might put some punters off. We do, however, have to say that the offerings on casino and slot games would rival any larger company on the market today.
So what score did Expekt receive for their efforts? A rather disappointing 67/100 was the number clocked up by the Nordic business, which gives them a position somewhere near the bottom of our board as it currently stands. It’s not all doom and gloom though, we’re sure that with some tweaks to the website navigation and improvements to customer service the site can bounce back and end up grabbing a much better figure next time.
Expekt: OpenOdds 10 Review Categories Comprehensive Rating Report Concerning This Top Bookmaker
All bookmakers thoroughly tested by the OpenOdds team, must prove themselves in the following 10 review categories, even Expekt!
01.Bonuses:Nothing for sports betting
A sad start to our Expekt Review we’re afraid! While many other sites offer you sports betting bonuses on sign-up, there is nothing that we can see on the Expekt page to tempt new sports bettors in. This is a huge disappointment for anyone expecting an Expekt bonus, but don’t worry there is at least some light at the end of the tunnel. Perseverance is key at the bookmaker, earning you a place as a sports VIP. These memberships allow players to take part in exclusive competitions, visit VIP events and also receive tailor-made bonuses to reward their loyalty. Do note that VIP membership is on an invitation-only basis, so you have to be one of the few who meet the site’s requirements to get in on these deals that can be as good as some of the best free bets offers.
If however, you’re considering playing casino games as well as sport then bonuses are a different matter. Free spins, bonuses and a leaderboard competition await you. One of the best ways of doing this is combining sports betting with casino play. Bet on a sporting event on the weekend and you can receive free spins on the site’s most popular slots. Not the worst deal ever.
02.Customer Service:A little slow and lacking in substance
Customer service is available on site, and unlike some of their competitors is instantaneous through the live chat facility which can be found on the help pages. As part of our Expekt review we contacted the bookie via chat message and received an instant reply. However, the reply was rather basic and didn’t solve our issue. There is also a basic FAQ which will cover most of the usual questions you may have on deposits, withdrawals and site information. If you’d prefer to contact the bookmaker by email you can do this too, although we’d recommend the live chat for immediate queries as emails can take up to 24 hours for a reply. Finally, you can get in touch with the site using the contact us page. Again, this takes up to 24 hours for a reply so there are quicker options available.
03.Sports Covered:Sport for everyone!
So what sports can you bet on at the bookie? We’re rating this site highly because despite it’s relatively small size and catering towards the Nordic market it has a decent array of sports to wager on. At our last count, there were over 20 different sports. Including e-sports to bet on ensuring that you won’t be short on choice. While there are other sites with a bigger representation, we think for the size of the site this is pretty impressive, and coverage is included on all of your favourites such as Aussie rules, darts and football as well as American football and rugby, too. If you’re bored of all the usual sports how about trying your hand at a wager on something more unusual such as handball or waterpolo? The choice is endless.
04.Payment Methods:Standard deposit & withdrawal options available
We contacted Expekt to confirm their payment methods but customer service weren’t very helpful, so we can only go on what is displayed on site. Payment solutions are displayed at the bottom of the screen in the grey banner and list VISA, VISA Electron, Mastercard, Paysafecard, Maestro, bank transfer, Skrill and NETELLER as payment choices. When asking if any fees are included in deposit and withdrawals the customer service person didn’t answer the question! After a little bit of digging in the site’s terms and conditions we found that they may ask you to pay a fee if they deem it appropriate, but don’t actually say what the fee is or when it is applied, so bear this in mind when choosing an online betting site. For the purposes of our Expekt review, we’re marked it as a possible fee and have had to mark the site down accordingly.
05.Security:High level of security on any site
The question we get asked most, and the one we take great lengths to explore is the question of site safety. After all, what’s the point in winning a huge jackpot only to have the bookies take it from you on a technicality? So, is Expekt safe? Well, the first thing we found when conducting our Expekt review is that they are licensed and regulated by the Malta Gaming Authority. They’re the regulator for the country, and regulation by them is a good sign that the site can be trusted. Part of the rules enforced on members of the MGA is that they make provisions to protect minors from gambling, so the site uses security protocols on sign-up to verify the identity of their players. All actions on the site must also adhere to their fair and transparent guidelines, meaning that gambling markets are checked for their legality and fairness before bets can be placed. All financial transactions on the site are also protected by SSL encryption, making sure that any sensitive or personal details are garbled to make it difficult to steal. A welcome level of security on any site.
06.Betting Odds:Best odds of the markets
Next up in our Expekt review we take a look at the betting odds on offer on the site. You’ll be pleased to know that the odds offered on site are fairly respectable, with an average sports betting margin of 5.4%. Great odds can be found on a host of sports, particularly football where you can bet on literally hundreds of betting markets including combination bets for even higher gains. If football’s not your bag, don’t worry. There are plenty of other games available on site and odds on these are also exceptional. Tennis, darts, baseball and martial arts get a look in. Even water polo odds are offered for you to take a punt on. Be sure to check out the OpenOdds betting odds comparison before placing your bets to make sure you get the best odds on the market.
07.User-friendliness:Mobile friendly, but cluttered
The site is not too bad to navigate, but finding your way around the sports page is not the easiest thing in the world. Click on the promotions tab for example, and you’ll find a list of promotions offered on site but no details on how to get these promotions. For that you need to scroll down to the fine print at the bottom of the page and scroll through the various sub-sections to find out T & C’s. What is good, however, is the appearance of the sports live betting section (more on this later) which offers basic statistics on team and player performance as well as displaying changing in-play odds. We also happen to dig the bright orange and green headings on the site which is a nice change from the usual grey and black that seem to make up the bulk of betting sites nowadays.
08.In-play Product:Decent sporting coverage with some improvements needed
The site might not be huge, but it does offer in-play options on commonly watched sporting events. This includes live video streaming of some of the Serie A and Spanish league football games as well as tennis tournaments Wimbledon and the US Open. Accessing the live betting section of the site couldn’t be easier. It’s located at the top of the screen. From the live betting screen you can access basic statistics and odds on the sporting events currently in play, and obviously, place a bet. The real boost of live betting is that you can choose to cash out early, so if odds are in your favour you can make a quick profit and run – if you’re lucky!
09.Other Products:Casino with games from Microgaming and NetEnt
You might be here for the sports, but we like to make sure that we cover all bases in our Expekt rating to make sure that you have all the information you need to make an informed decision. So what other games does the site have to set them apart from the best online bookmakers? Well, actually quite a lot. The site has a whole host of online slots (over 300 at last count) and these are from some of the biggest names in online gaming such as Microgaming and NetEnt. What’s more, hovering over the games from the selection menu brings up a box telling you important information such as the maximum win available, how much each spin costs and the maximum stake per spin. Games are suitable for a wide range of players too, from beginners to expert players who can win a tidy sum to boost their bank roll right up to millions of pounds on games such as Hall of Gods and Gonzo’s Quest. A casino with live games is also available for those who like to add a touch of glamour to their betting – complete with video linked croupiers and roulette spinners, too.
Expekt eSports Betting: Dota 2, LOL and Csgo.
Expekt is pretty good in this field with many games available including CS:GO, Dota 2 and League of Legends as well as StarCraft 2. At the time of visiting the site there were bets available on the LoL LCS America, Lol LCS Europe and the CS:GO StarLadder i-League Finals. You are also likely to find bets on the Prodata cup and League of Legends Worlds when the tournaments begin.
The main bonus on site offers those using the mobile app refunds on their losing bets up to the value of €10. For the bonus to be applicable, the stake must be at least €5 and at odds of 1.50 or greater. The bonus can be claimed as cash, but will need to be wagered six times with minimum odds of 2.00 or more before it can be withdrawn. The bonus can be used to bet on esports games including LoL, CS:GO and dota 2.
The other bonus that might apply comes in handy if you’re a big fan of accumulators. The Multi+ multiplies the winnings of an accumulator so you can win even more cash if your bet comes up. The percentage the bet increases by depends on the number of bets in the accumulator. As with all bets, it is a good idea to check out an eSports odds comparison site to ensure that you are betting with the best odds available.
There is a dedicated mobile app available for site users so you can place your bets and check eSports games on the go. The site is also optimized for mobile use, so if you cannot download the app on your phone you can still enjoy Expekt eSports while on the go.
10.Betting Limits:Great for beginners, not so much for regular customers
Betting on site is simple – just click the odds you’re interested in and confirm your bet. However, the lack of a standard Expekt bonus make it difficult to recommend for longer-term players. This is further confirmed by a lack of clarity on the betting limit for sports betting. This is a shame as casino game limits are clearly displayed on the site and players will no doubt welcome this transparency. What is clearer is the amount you can bet. After adding a minimum deposit of £10 you can place wagers from as little as £0.10, which may not sound much, but when combined with a large accumulator could mean a fantastic return for your cash. Overall though, we’re just a little disappointed with the lack of information on display here and this will affect our Expekt review accordingly.
