The Rumour Reel: Hernandez to leave West Ham, Sturridge to Roma, Moura to London?
With the transfer deadline just a week and a half away from closing, activity is beginning to hot up in the transfer market in the UK.
Hernandez to Bestikas
West Ham’s Mexican striker Javier Hernandez wants to leave the east London club during the current transfer window, according to his agent, in search of more regular football. Hammers manager David Moyes has hinted that he wants the player to stay, though.
While a move to Bestikas is the more likely option at 4/11, he’s currently 20/1 with Paddy Power to return to Manchester United.
Welbeck to Bestikas
Arsenal forward Danny Welbeck is reportedly a target for Turkish side Besiktas, as well as Crystal Palace. Gunners boss Arsene Wenger has insisted that the former Manchester United striker will not be leaving Arsenal in this window, though.
Can Juventus land Emre Can?
On Merseyside, Emre Can could be staying put at Liverpool in the summer, after being pursued by Italian giants Juventus. The 24-year-old German is apparently attracting interest from other clubs, and also now has an option to stay with the Reds.
Juve general manager Beppe Marotta has admitted his club’s interest, with Can having refused to sign a new deal at Anfield up to now. But Marotta has also acknowledged that the deal might now be in doubt.
Is Dzeko making a U-turn and heading back to the Premier League?
Edin Dzeko could be returning to the Premier League from Roma, with Chelsea looking a likely destination. The Londoners look set to break one of their own rules of not paying transfer fees for outfield players over 30.
In other Chelsea transfer news Ashley Barnes is hinted to make the move to Chelsea. While seen as an odd transfer by many, he’s currently 5/2 to make the switch at William Hill.
Italy left-back Emerson Palmieri could also be part of a double deal which could cost £44 million, or even rise to £50m. If Dzeko does leave Roma, then Daniel Sturridge could be heading over to Italy to replace him.
Is it curtains for Sturridge at Liverpool?
Inter Milan are also reportedly interested in Sturridge, with a £35m deal rumoured to be in the works. Liverpool are apparently keen on an initial loan move first, but Inter think that the price tag could be a little high. In other news, Inter could be selling Italy striker Eder, 31, to Crystal Palace, for £8.5m.
Luca Moura to Arsenal or Tottenham?
Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly battling for the signature of Paris St German’s Lucas Moura.
The Gunners originally wanted the player on loan, but are now locked in a tussle with their north London rivals to land the player on a permament deal. According to some English newspapers, the Gunners have agreed personal terms with Borussia Dortmund striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
Arsenal have made an improved offer of £52m, with striker Olivier Giroud heading in the opposite direction. The question we’re asking is — is he Moura hassle than it’s worth?
Is Dembele heading to Crystal Palace?
Meanwhile, North of the Border in Scotland, Celtic’s Moussa Dembele is reportedly attracting attention from English clubs, with a move to London on the cards. The Scotsman reports that Crystal Palace are favourites to land the midfielder’s signature, with Brighton and Everton also interested.
A move looks on the cards, with Celtic assistant manager Chris Davies confirming to the press that the player wants to move. No formal bids have been received by the Bhoys as yet, though.

Liverpool got all the way to the Champions League final last year, before the inevitable balance of the universe kicked in and ensured that Real Madrid won. This season, the Reds are in the last 16 and – if we’re reading the Premier League right – have a better side than they did 12 months ago. It’s fair to say that Jurgen Klopp’s side will be disappointed if they can’t win at least one large chalice-shaped trophy this season, and their bid to pick up the European version resumes this evening with a match against Bayern...

In what might be considered an example of “saving the best for last”, the final tie of the FA Cup’s fifth round tonight pits holders Chelsea against a Manchester United side looking to bounce back after losing for the first time under caretaker manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. The Blues themselves have not had the easiest few weeks; defeats at Bournemouth and by a thumping 6-0 scoreline at Manchester City have left coach Mauricio Sarri in a vulnerable position, and defeat tonight would edge the Italian closer to the exit door. For...
