It’s fourth place in the Scottish Premiership against fifth place this Saturday afternoon up at Pittordrie, with Aberdeen welcoming Kilmarnock to north eastern Scotland for what should be a tight encounter. Both sides finished in the top six of the Premiership last season, and will be looking to repeat the feat in 2018/19. Neither has set the heather alight in terms of their form so far this season, but neither side has been in bad form either.
Aberdeen vs Kilmarnock Prediction: Aberdeen 1-0 Kilmarnock
Our predicted scoreline for this game is that Aberdeen will beat Kilmarnock 1-0. Killie have striggled to score goals in the league so far this season, and are also travelling a long way away from their Ayrshire home. The Dons have enjoyed some good performances so far, especially against St Mirren in the League Cup, when they won 4-0. Killie have also looked a little blunt in attack so far in 2018/19, having scored just two goals in three league games. The Dons should take the game, but it will close, and the vital goal may well come late in the second half.
Our recommended tip: Aberdeen win 1-0
We have chosen the Dons to win 1-0 as our featured tip for this game. We suspect that the game is going to fiercely fought and low scoring, but that the Dons will eventually edge it late on. Aberdeen showed last season that they know how to beat Killie, and they will surely take motivation from that. Being at home could also give an edge. The Dons have scored more goals against Premiership defences this season than the Ayrshire side, without being really prolific. A victory by a single goal looks like a good bet, especially at odds of 11/2.
These two sides met five times last season. Four of those games were in the Scottish Premiership, and one was in the quarter finals of the Scottish Cup. The Scottish Cup tie was won by the Dons on penalties, after a game strewn with yellow cards ended 1-1 after extra time. Aberdeen won three of the league meetings, scoring eight goals and conceding two in those three wins. There were two 3-1 victories, and one 2-0 win. The other game, their first meeting of last season, ended in a 1-1 draw at Rugby Park. Killie will want to improve their record this season.

Players to watch: Graeme Shinnie & Kris Boyd
Aberdeen skipper Graeme Shinnie received a call-up to Alex McLeish’s Scotland squad this week, which is just reward for his consistent performances over the last few seasons. The versatile 27-year-old leads the team well, and can play in central midfield as well as at left back. He has stated that his focus for the Killie game is helping his team keep a clean sheet, as that sets the platform for winning games.
Killie striker Kris Boyd has a good few miles on the clock now, but the 35-year-old former Scotland international can still be relied on to score goals. Boyd has hit four goals so far this season for the Ayrshire club, but all of them have been in the Scottish League Cup. Killie could really use him finding the kind of goal scoring form that has defined his long career this weekend against Aberdeen.
