Arsenal welcome Cardiff City to the Emirates Stadium this Tuesday evening, with both teams looking to get back to winning ways after defeats in their previous games. Arsenal were knocked out of the FA Cup fourth round on Friday evening, losing 3-1 to old rivals Manchester United at the Emirates Stadium. That would have been a bit of a disappointing result for Unai Emery’s team, especially given that they won their last league game, against Chelsea, 2-0 at home to Chelsea.
Cardiff were knocked out of the FA Cup in the third round by struggling League One side Gillingham, who beat them 1-0 in Kent. The Bluebirds have also failed to win in their last three Premier League games, losing at home to Tottenham Hotspur, drawing at home to Huddersfield Town, and losing away at Newcastle United.
Arsenal vs Cardiff City Prediction: Gunners 2-0 Cardiff City
Our prediction for this game is that the Gunners will win it pretty easily, and by at least 2-0. The Bluebirds do not offer much in the way of quality under Neil Warnock’s management, and have struggled to win games this season. Much of Warnock’s working style as a manager seems to rely in bluff and bluster, and his team have been found out in recent weeks. It might not be too long before ‘Colin’, as he is nicknamed, is looking for another job. Arsenal should have sufficient quality to have won the game by half-time.
Our recommended tip: Arsenal 2-0
Our featured tip for this game comes from William Hill, who are offering odds of 11/2 on Arsenal wining the game 2-0. We think that this bet offers good value in terms of the odds on offer, and we expect Arsenal to win by two clear goals. Cardiff have fallen into bad habits in recent weeks, and look to have forgotten how to win games. The Gunners, despite a few blips, continue to look like a team which is improving, if not yet the finished article, and they will have far too much quality for Cardiff to cope with on Tuesday evening.
These two sides have met on just three occasions in the Premier League, with Arsenal winning all three of those games. One of those victories has been at home for the Gunners, when they won 2-0 at the Emirates Stadium in January 2014. In the other game in the 2013/14 season, at the Cardiff City Stadium in November 2013, Arsenal won 3-0.
In the most recent clash between the teams, at the Cardiff City Stadium in September 2018, Arsenal ran out 3-2 winners. Alexandre Lacazette scored a late winner in a game where the Gunners were pegged back twice before sealing the wind.

Players to watch: Aaron Ramsey & [Player B]
South Welshman Aaron Ramsey came through the ranks as a youngster at Cardiff, and played in the 2008 FA Cup final for the Bluebirds. Set to sign for Juventus at the end of this season, Ramsey is still a key player for the Gunners. He has weighed in with two goals and six assists in his 20 Premier League appearances in 2018/19, highlighting his overall importance to the Gunners. Replacing him will be tricky.
Neil Etheridge, the Cardiff goalkeeper, is a player to watch on Tuesday night. This is not just because he is likely to have plenty to do when it comes to coping with the Arsenal attack, but also because he has made more passes than any other City player this season. He has played 679 passes, a sign perhaps of the somewhat reductive style Cardiff have reverted to recently. It will be interesting to see how he copes with the Gunners.
