Tottenham Hotspur travel north on Saturday lunchtime to face Burnley at Turf Moor in the Premier League. The home side have now gone seven league matches unbeaten, while Spurs are looking to extend their league winning run to five games.
Those stats obscure some of the detail of Burnley’s recent, however, with the Clarets having found wins harder to come by than draws in recent weeks. Prior to last weekend’s 3-1 win at Brighton & Hove Albion, Sean Dyche’s team had drawn its last three Premier League games and been dumped out of the FA Cup by Manchester City, who thrashed them 5-0 at the Etihad Stadium in the fifth round.
Mauricio Pochettino’s Spurs team are starting to look really strong, though, even without the presence of injured talisman Harry Kane. They have also won 11 Premier League games away from home in 2018/19, their best ever in a single season in the competition.
Burnley vs Tottenham Hotspur Prediction: Clarets 1-2 Spurs
Our prediction for the outcome of this game is that it will end in a 2-1 win for the away side. While only Manchester United have a longer current unbeaten run in the Premier League than Burnley, questions remain as to whether the Clarets have enough quality to overcome an in-form Spurs outfit. Spurs may also be boosted by the return to action of Harry Kane, who returned to training this week after injury. If he comes into the line-up, the chances of an away win are boosted further. Even if he does not play, the likes of Son Heung-min still offer plenty of threat.
Our recommended tip: Spurs, both score
Our featured tip for this game comes from Coral, who are offering odds of 9/4 on Spurs to win and both teams to score. This looks like a good bet to us, as we have predicted that the London side will end up on the right end of a 2-1 final score. This bet also offers a fair amount of flexibility when it comes to the actual final score too, though, which helps boost its chances of being a successful bet for you. Odds of 9/4 also offer decent returns for a relatively modest outlay.
These two sides have met on nine previous occasions in the Premier League. Spurs have six of those games, with two of those victories coming at Turf Moor. Burnley have won just once against the north Londoners in the Premier League, back in May 2010, when they won 4-2 at Turf Moor.
The most recent meeting between the teams was earlier this season at Spurs’ temporary home ground of Wembley. Spurs won the game 1-0, and had to wait until injury time at the end of the second half to seal the victory with a Christian Eriksen strike.

Players to watch: Ashley Westwood & Son Heung-min
Burnley midfielder Ashley Westwood may not have scored any goals himself this season, but he has weighed in with five assists, more than any of his team-mates. A key cog in Burnley’s midfield machine, Westwood has made 914 passes at an average of 39.78 per game. He has also hit 64 accurate long balls, and created seven big chances for his team this season. He has made 43 crosses with an accuracy rate of 51%.
Son Heung-min has really stepped up for Spurs in the absence of Harry Kane, and Burnley will need to keep a close eye on the South Korean this weekend. In his 20 Premier League games in 2018/19, Son has netted 11 goals. As well as scoring goals, though, he makes them, and has weighed in with five assists this season, as well as creating four big chances and crossing the ball 21 times.
