One of these teams seems to be starting to find their feet in the upper echelons of the Premier League after many years struggling to break ground, while the other broke ground in the Championship but are struggling to stay afloat in the big leagues. There’s little doubt that Fulham have found the challenges since their promotion hard to keep up with, and with Bournemouth proving their ability week after week, they are a tough team to try to make a comeback against. Will Fulham be just another stepping stone in the rise of the often overlooked Bournemouth, or will the underdogs finally step out of the doldrums of the relegation zone to prove they do belong among the best of the best?
Fulham vs AFC Bournemouth Prediction: Fulham 1-2 Bournemouth
As much as we know that so many fans want to see Fulham finally break out this season and show the fight that we’re so used to seeing from them, we just don’t think it will happen here. Aside from a disastrous 4-0 loss to Burnley, Bournemouth has impressed so far this season. Are they the finished article just yet? No, there’s still some way to go, but do they have enough to defeat the struggling Fulham? Well, unless Fulham really show something we haven’t seen thus far since their promotion, we are going to say that seems unlikely. Usually though, Fulham do manage to at least strike back in their losses, so with that in mind, we’re going to predict a 2-1 win for Bournemouth.
Our recommended tip: Mitrović anytime goalscorer
We’ve already outlined our reasons why we think Bournemouth are going to win this contest already and taking that into account, you may be surprised to find that our top recommended tip is for a Fulham player to score. As we’ve mentioned, although Fulham have lost with disappointing regularity this season, they’ve barely scraped by without at least managing to score. A huge part of this is due to the brilliant work we’ve seen by Aleksandar Mitrović, who is a thorn in the side of pretty much any team he comes up against. When it comes to Bournemouth, we’ll expect little else.
Despite the first head-to-head match between Fulham and Bournemouth coming way back in 1928, there’s been a surprising lack of games between the two during that time. There’s only a few dozen that have taken place over nearly a century and only two to look at when it comes to modern games with relevance. Unfortunately for Fulham, it’s not going to provide them with much extra optimism.
Back in 2015, they lost 5-1 to Bournemouth and suffered a similar fate with a 2-0 loss in 2014. In fact, the last time Fulham got the win was way back in 1994, when their current squad were mere children. That’s a clear advantage to Bournemouth.

Players to watch: Aleksandar Mitrović & Callum Wilson
Fulham – Aleksandar Mitrović
Since joining Fulham on loan back in February 2018, Aleksandar Mitrović has achieved so much in such a short space of time that it’s now strange to imagine Fulham without him. In that season, he managed to win back-to-back Championship Player of the Month titles and scored 12 goals. His brilliance has continued despite Fulham struggling in the Premier League, and whenever his team need a game changer, he’s their man.
Bournemouth – Callum Wilson
One of the things that have made Bournemouth such a dangerous team this year is their adaptability and great selection of top goalscorers. Really, you could pick Ryan Fraser, Joshua King or Callum Wilson here and few would argue with you. They have similar time player, shots on target and goals. However, we are going to have to go with Callum Wilson here, simply due to his consistency and ability on the assist.
