Our Betting Tip
Liverpool win 2-0

Liverpool will be looking to get their Premier League title challenge back on track on Sunday lunchtime when they welcome Burnley to Anfield. Jurgen Klopp’s Reds were held to a 0-0 draw by Merseyside rivals Everton at Goodison Park last weekend, and are now a point behind table-toppers Manchester City. The Reds will see this game against Burnley as a real chance to claim three points. City play on Saturday too, so by the time kick-off rolls round the Reds could be facing a four-point gap between them and the Mancunians.
Burnley boss Sean Dyche will be hoping that his team can bounce back from two consecutive Premier League defeats, away at Newcastle United and at home to Crystal Palace. The fact that those two defeats followed on from a fine home win over Tottenham Hotspur will have particularly disappointed Dyche.

Liverpool vs Burnley Prediction: Reds 2-0 Clarets

Our prediction for this game is that the home side will win pretty comfortably, and reignite their bid for the Premier League title in the process. While Burnley’s front two will certainly cause some problems, the Clarets have lost their last two games and confidence is sure to be low. Liverpool are also very strong at home these days, and have not been beaten in 35 Premier League matches at Anfield. The Reds have such power in attack that it is hard not to see them scoring at least two goals and taking the three points in comfortable style.

Our Betting Tip
Liverpool win 2-0
Odds
5/1

Our featured tip for this game comes from Ladbrokes, who are offering odds of 5/1 on our prediction of a 2-0 home win turning out to be accurate. Despite the good form shown by Burnley’s front two of Ashley Barnes and Chris Wood this season, we can’t see the Clarets troubling the Reds’ defence too much on Sunday afternoon. Liverpool have lost just one game in the Premier League all season, and are particularly strong at home, so it is hard to see this game ending in anything other than a comfortable win for the Reds.

Previous matches

Liverpool have won nine of their last 11 home matches against Burnley in all competitions, a record that stretches back 45 years to 1974, when they were beaten 1-0 by the Clarets. In the Premier League era, the two sides have met nine times. Out of those games, Liverpool have won seven and Burnley two. There has been one draw.
The most recent meeting between the teams came earlier this season, when the two sides met in the Premier League at Turf Moor in December. Liverpool emerged as 3-1 victors that day, James Milner, Roberto Firmino and Xherdan Shaqiri scoring.

Players to watch: Mohamed Salah & Chris Wood

Mohamed Salah is Liverpool’s top scorer in the Premier League this season, having netted 17 times in 29 appearances. He has also provided seven assists for his team-mates. Salah is 7/5 at Ladbrokes to outscore Burnley, and you can also get a price there of 11/2 on him to score in both halves. Those odds are not especially long, a sign of just how much offensive power the Egyptian provides’ to Klopp’s team.

Chris Wood is the Claret’s second top scorer this season, with seven goals in 29 Premier League appearances. Three of those goals have come from headers, so Liverpool’s defenders will need to perform strongly in the air. All of Burnley’s last nine Premier League goals have come from Ashley Barnes or Wood. Lierpool’s defenders will need to find a way to cope with what is one of the Premier League’s deadliest strike duos.
