Liverpool currently have a four-point lead at the top of the Premier League table over Manchester City. They will be looking to win in order to maintain that gap between themselves and Pep Guardiola’s team. Roy Hodgson’s Crystal Palace side may feel some optimism ahead of their trip to Anfield, as they have won on three of their last four visits to the home of the Reds.
Last time out, Palace were beaten 2-1 at home in the league by Watford, while Liverpool secured a valuable three points with a 1-0 win at Brighton & Hove Albion. Palace area also still in the FA Cup, thanks to their 1-0 home win over League Two outfit Grimsby Town. Liverpool, of course, were knocked out of the Cup by Wolverhampton Wanderers.
We should be in for an interesting game on Saturday, with both teams needing the points, but for different reasons. Palace would like to put more space between them and the relegation zone.
Liverpool vs Crystal Palace Prediction: Liverpool 2-1 Palace
Our prediction for this game is that Liverpool will win it 2-1. While the Reds faltered in the FA Cup, they managed to secure an important win over Brighton last weekend. They have also looked very strong at home this season, and are looking for their 11th win in 12 Premier League games. Palace are a resilient side, but going away to Anfield this season is tough. We expect them to score, but also anticipate that Liverpool’s attack will prove just too strong for Hodgson’s Eagles.
Our recommended tip: Salah first goalscorer
Our featured tip for this game comes courtesy of Paddy Power, who are offering a price of 13/5 on Mohamed Salah being the game’s first goalscorer. Salah is the Reds’ top scorer this season, and has 14 Premier League goals to his credit in 2018/19. That is six more than Roberto Firmino, who is second in the Reds’ scoring charts. Salah has also weighed in with seven assists, a sign of his overall value to Klopp’s team. Odds of 13/5 look pretty tempting for him to score the first goal on Saturday.
There have been 19 Premier League games in total between these sides. Liverpool have won 11 times, with five of those wins coming at Anfield. Palace have won just five times, but three of those wins have come on Merseyside. Last season, Liverpool won both of the league games between the teams, triumphing 2-1 at Selhurst Park and 1-0 at Anfield. Earlier this season, Liverpool won 2-0 at Selhurst Park, with James Milner, from the penalty spot and Sadio Mane scoring the goals. Palace have won three out of their last four games at Anfield, despite their recent defeats to the Reds.

Players to watch: Andrew Robertson & Wilfried Zaha
Scotland international left back Andrew Robertson continues to develop into a world-class player at Anfield. Now captain of his country, he is also an integral part of Klopp’s tactical plan for Liverpool. He has provided four assists for his club in the league this season, putting him second to Mo Salah in the charts. Robertson’s left foot is a thing of beauty, and his crosses will cause the Eagles plenty of problems this weekend.
Ivorian international winger Wilfried Zaha remains Palace’s biggest attacking threat. He has weighed in this season with three goals and an assist, but that does not tell the full story about the player. Palace tend to look a much more threatening team with him in the side, and he can really give defenders a tough test when he is in the mood. Rumours continue to link him with a move away from Palace, but for now he is their star man.
