There’s little doubt that Manchester United will be seeing this as an opportunity to turn an interesting if wobbly few weeks into a more concrete success. On paper, things don’t look too bad. However, their win against Chelsea was tainted in the eyes of some by some controversial VAR calls and their performance in a draw against Club Brugge KV was sloppy at best. While neither of these was especially bad, neither screams comeback in the way United would like either.
In Watford, they have a struggling team they will no doubt hope to use as an example. That said, there’s toughness and resilience in Watford which betrays their lowly position in the Premier League, and United would be wise not to take them for granted.
