While Leicester’s consistency means they come into this game as slight favourites, Watford’s shock 3-0 victory over Liverpool should be fresh enough in everyone’s minds to avoid writing them off. With that said, in a seesaw season, it’s fair to say that Watford have had more downs than ups. Without that astonishing victory, they would be on an eight-game losing streak, as they failed to back up their momentum, losing the following week to Crystal Palace.

It’s also fair to say that while Leicester have been more consistent performance wise, they’ve also fought their way out of a slump in terms of results, with their 4-0 victory over Aston Villa being a true return to form. Much of how this game plays out very much depends on which Watford shows up. But if Leicester remain on form, they’ll no doubt need their A-game to grasp those increasingly precious points.

Watford vs Leicester City Prediction: Watford 0-2 Leicester

As great as Watford can be, the truth is that they just don’t hit those highs often enough. Sitting just outside the relegation zone on goal difference is their punishment for a season lacking in discipline. And in truth, we’ve not seen enough to convince us of a turnaround. There’s also the fact that they’re going against a rather reinvigorated Leicester City – Vardy ended his 10-game goal drought with a double against Aston Villa and Harvey Barnes has scored four goals in four home games following 22 fruitless efforts. Considering all this, the odds stacked against Watford look even greater. With that in mind, our scoreline prediction is 2-0 to Leicester.

Our Betting Tip
Leicester win to nil
Odds
33/10

While Watford do have the potential and ability to win this game, anything other than their top form could very well lead to a one-sided loss here. Considering their inconsistencies, that’s a serious possibility. For that reason, we actually think Leicester’s chances in this game are a little underrated, even if the bookmakers are giving them a slight edge. On top of that, consider that Watford’s last two losses were to nil, as were Leicester’s last two victories. Due to our difference of opinion with the bookmakers on this matter, we think the odds you can get for a wager on Leicester winning to nil are very generous, with 888Sport offering competitive 33/10 odds on this result.

Previous matches

The previous matches between these two sides don’t provide many surprises, with Leicester holding an advantage – but not an enormous one. The away side have won 30 games to Watford’s 21 throughout their head-to-head history, and the Foxes have won seven of their last 10 encounters. Importantly, the last three wins for Leicester were to nil. In fact, they match our current predicted scoreline. However, it’s not all doom and gloom for Watford. A 2-1 win in March 2019 is modern enough to provide them with some motivating memories. Nonetheless, history clearly favours the Foxes.

Players to watch: Ismaïla Sarr & Jamie Vardy

Watford: Ismaïla Sarr

We don’t want to make it seem like we are talking down Watford. Their potential is enormous – they just don’t often reach it. If they are to do so here, then key to that has to be record signing Ismaïla Sarr, who played a part in all three goals in that stunning victory over Liverpool. Watford are a team that need a shot in the arm to climb their way out of relegation danger, and Sarr might be the man to provide exactly that.

Leicester City: Jamie Vardy

We really were torn between Jamie Vardy and Harvey Barnes for this pick. Both have managed to end their goal draughts in spectacular style, and each scored in that top tier performance against Aston Villa. However, we’re going to go with Vardy, as his re-emergence as a devastating offensive force is not only the most interesting story to come out of that game but, for his team, possibly the most important.
