What does it mean to cash out a bet?

Cashing out a bet basically means that you will finish your bet before the bet reaches its original conclusion. This means that you can minimises any potential losses, or even hang on to a profit regardless of what happens next in the sporting encounter.

For example, if you were betting on Liverpool to beat Manchester United in a Premier League football match, and Liverpool were winning 1-0 with just minutes to go, then you could cash in your bets early and avoid any of those agonising last minute disappointments.

But by cashing out your football bet early, it means that you will have to accept whatever cash out price is being offered by the bookie. This can often be just a fraction of what you would have won had you seen your bet being settled as normal. The bookmaker will set their cash out price as a result of a combination of factors that relate to the bet’s opening odds, the run of play, and this price will always be changing so be sure to refresh the page to get the latest price.

How to cash out on William Hill’s website

William Hill offer a special Cash In My Bet option that is basically the same as cashing out your bets. The brand allow you to cash out your bets early on a range of sports that include football, tennis, horse racing, baseball, boxing, basketball, darts, cricket, snooker, golf and more. This applies to single and multiple bets, and you might be able to use the cash out feature for live betting and outright bets too.

If you want to cash out, William Hill give you an easy way to do so. Just place your single or multiple bets as normal, and then you will immediately see that the bet will have a ‘cash in’ value displayed alongside it.

From here, you can go to the Open Bets tab on your betting slip to check up on the progress of your sports bet. This will reveal the current price in the blue Cash In Value box that you would get if you cashed out your bets. If this looks good to you, then you can just click on the green Cash In icon and pick up your stake along with any profits.

But William Hill also goes one step extra as they also allow you to partially cash out your sports bet. This can be done by moving the slider along to your preferred stake level that will instantly alter the stake and Cash Out Value. When this looks good to you, then you can press the Cash In icon and the bet will be altered accordingly.

Cashing out on the William Hill app

If you are out and about and want to cash out, William Hill’s app gives you an easy way to do so. Regardless of what kind of bet you want to cash out, William Hill apps for iOS and Android mobile devices allow you to place your bets as normal, and then you just have to navigate to your betting slip, and you will see a tab called Open Bets.

Tapping on the Open Bets tab will reveal a full list of all of your ongoing sports bets that haven’t yet been settled. Each bet will be shown with the odds, the duration of the sporting event, your stake and what you would have won had you waited for the bet to conclude.

At the bottom of the screen, you should see a button that tells you how much you will receive if you cash in your bet. If this looks good to you, then you can just tap on the green Confirm button and walk away with a potential profit even if your bet loses in the long-run.

Can you always cash out your bets at William Hill?

The William Hill Cash In My Bet service covers a large range of betting markets. But the bookie also clearly state that this feature is only open for selected sports, and is not always available as it is dependent on live activity. Here are some of the most common reasons as to why you might not be able to cash out your bets at William Hill.

You can’t cash out promotional betting offers

If you have managed to pick up some extra bets as part of something like the William Hill bonus, then you won’t be able to cash these out. Similarly, if the wager was going to trigger an extra bet promotion, then you can’t cash them out.

Certain betting types can’t be cashed out

Whilst William Hill allow you to cash out a wide variety of single and multiple bets, you cannot cash out any each-way bets. This can also apply to some kinds of accumulator bets, especially if there is an individual selection that cannot be cashed in.

Other reasons why you can’t cash out a William Hill bet

William Hill won’t allow you to cash in any bets on enhanced odds and flash odds betting markets, and certain betting markets are obviously not suited for cashing out, so always check first.
