Bet of the Day: Alsa Mix each-way value in Lady Godiva at Warwick

14th September 2021

Alsa Mix each-way in the Lady Godiva Chase for Alan King at Warwick is Bet of the Day for 12/12/19

Alsa Mix each-way in the Lady Godiva Chase for novice mares over fences and 2m 4f at Warwick appeals most on Wednesday, given how gutsy she was in her winning debut in this sphere (13:20).

Trained by Alan King, this seven-year-old was a Grade 2 scorer at this trip in novice hurdle company last season.

That success came at Sandown in the Winter Novices’ Hurdle, so this mare has a touch of class.

Prior to that, Alsa Mix won her sole start in an Irish point and Rules debut in a bumper here at Warwick.

That course form is an obvious plus, and so are seeing her follow-up with hurdles success at Exeter and then in graded company.

Although her form tailed off towards the end of last season, she was pitched in at the highest level.

A sixth behind Champ in the Grade 1 Challow Novices’ Hurdle was no disgrace. Alsa Mix later got pulled up in the Albert Bartlett at the Cheltenham Festival over 3m.

When eased in grade significantly to the Listed level of the Lady Godiva Chase, it was no surprise to see her resume winning ways.

Why Alsa Mix each-way appeals

Alsa Mix returned to action in a novice event at Bangor. After chasing the leaders, she made headway on the run-in and challenged Agusta Gold in a ding-dong tussle to the line.

She prevailed by a short-head and the runner-up had bolted up 53 lengths on her previous outing. Agusta Gold also ran well following the narrow defeat at Bangor when second to Elimay in a Grade 3 around Cork.

On the form of her debut over fences, Alsa Mix who is 6/1 with 888Sport, she has nothing to fear from the re-opposing third home Chilli Filli.

With the step up in trip holding no fears and King’s stable among the winners of late, a big run looks assured.

Despite the presence of a respected rival in Dan Skelton’s course chase winner Maire Banrigh, that mare is plenty short enough.

If treating Alsa Mix on the pick of her form, she should be capable of following up under a penalty.

She can hit the frame at least and is versatile as regards ground. This is a solid each-way punt.

Bet of the Day: 6/1 with 888Sport, Alsa Mix each-way in the Lady Godiva Chase at Warwick.
