Silver Forever made a winning bow over timber at Chepstow last month, so looks value to follow-up in the 2m mares’ novice hurdle at Newbury on Thursday (14:35).
Trained by Paul Nicholls, this five-year-old landed an Irish point in impressive fashion and then two of her four bumpers last season.
After scoring by 10 easy lengths from Annie Mc, who progressed over hurdles to win a Grade 2 limited handicap, Silver Forever won her debut under Rules at Chepstow.
A five-length victory at Chepstow saw her pitched into Listed company at Huntingdon. She was far from disgraced on that flat, right-handed track when third and beaten less than four lengths.
Silver Forever then bounced back when eased in grade at Ascot. As she gave weight all-round, her three-quarters of a length victory was all the more impressive.
The daughter of Jeremy then placed again at Listed level around Sandown when just overhauled by Misty Whisky.
She was unlucky to get headed in the final strides and go down by a length. Those bumper outings left connections with a nice hurdles prospect.
Silver Forever a value bet at Newbury
She confirmed that impression when returning to Chepstow and sent off odds-on with bookmakers on reappearance.
Harry Cobden settled her in-behind the leader and went in front between the last two flights. All her jockey had to do then was shake her up and she soon went clear for a very decisive four-length win.
Although the grey mare is now down in trip from an extended 2m 3f, this galloping track should suit.
Newbury is also left-handed and Silver Forever is two from two racing anti-clockwise. While the bookies have Nicky Henderson inmate Floressa as favourite, there are reasons to oppose her.
Despite a very easy Worcester win, this track may suit Silver Forever – a 2/1 chance with 888Sport – better.
She looks the value play at the odds on offer. Henderson’s stable is operating at a 21 per cent strike in the last fortnight at the time of writing.
Any forecast rain that hits the track is also a plus for Silver Forever. Taking all that into account, she is well worth backing against Floressa.
Bet of the Day: 2/1 with 888Sport, Silver Forever wins the mares’ novice hurdle at Newbury.
