Rock The Kasbah marked himself down as a Grand National contender with a battling success in the Grade 3 BetVictor.com Handicap Chase over 3m 3f at Cheltenham in November.

His only start since then was also at Prestbury Park the following month in a similar contest over 3m 2f, in which he finished sixth behind Cogry.

Looking at back form, the 2017-18 campaign yielded a handicap chase success at Chepstow for Rock The Kasbah. He was later second behind fellow Aintree contender Step Back in the the Grade 3 bet365 Gold Cup over 3m 4f at Sandown.

Rock The Kasbah has a touch of class and is normally a sound jumper. Also knows how to big deep and battle, the ideal attributes for this test.

Another plus is he has the services of champion jockey Richard Johnson in the saddle, who has twice ridden the Grand National runner-up. Big player of taking to the unique spruce fences at the first attempt.
