Ramses De Teillee is bidding to become to become the fourth grey horse to win the Grand National, following The Lamb (1868 and 1871), Nicolaus Silver (1961) and Neptune Collonges (2012).
Comes into the race on the back of two really solid efforts, finishing a three-quarter of a length runner-up to Robinsfirth in Grade 3 William Hill Grand National Trial Handicap Chase over 3m 4f at Haydock Park.
Prior to that, he was also a 1 1/4 lengths second to Elegant Escape in Grade 3 Coral Welsh Grand National over 3m 5f at Chepstow on December 27.
Ramses De Teillee had previously won Welsh Grand National Trial on heavy going at the same venue. All three of his career wins have come at Chepstow, but clearly effective on any track and is an improving staying chaser.
Looks nicely weighted and sure to make a bold bid for stable that has won the Grand National before. Key player.who should relish this stamina test.
