Liverpool vs Tottenham Hotspur – Betting Tips & Predictions – 27-10

14th September 2021

Liverpool’s run of 17 successive victories was ended by Manchester United at Old Trafford last weekend, so Jurgen Klopp’s Reds will be looking to return to winning ways when they welcome Tottenham Hotspur to Anfield on Sunday.
Spurs are yet to win away from home in the Premier League this season, but manager Mauricio Pochettino will have a full squad to choose from, with the exception of goalkeeper Hugo Lloris, who is recovering from an elbow injury.
Andrew Robertson is expected to feature for Liverpool again, after being substituted due to injury in midweek in the Champions League win over Genk. Trent Alexander-Arnold should also feature for the Reds after recovering from illness.

Liverpool vs Tottenham Hotspur Prediction: Reds 2-1 Spurs

Liverpool have an excellent recent record against Spurs, having lost just once in their last 13 league games against the north Londoners. The Reds are also at home, and will be looking to return to winning ways after their blip at Old Trafford last weekend.
Spurs have also struggled away from home this season, and Anfield is not an easy place for anyone to visit right. We think that Spurs may well score on Merseyside this weekend, but their efforts will be in vain in the end. Liverpool will win the game 2-1, in our opinion, and a result which will mark a return to league form.

Our recommended tip: Liverpool, both score

Our featured tip for this game comes from Paddy Power, who are offering odds of 13/8 on Liverpool to win and both teams to score. This bet matches our prediction of a 2-1 win for the home side, while also offering some decent value in terms of the odds on offer. The bet also gives you a certain amount of flexibility when it comes to the actual final scoreline. Liverpool have such a good recent record against Spurs that it is hard to look beyond a Reds win for this game. Spurs have enough attacking power to score at least once, though.

Liverpool have an excellent recent record against Tottenham Hotspur, having lost just one of their last 13 Premier League games against Spurs. That defeat came in October 2017, when they lose 4-1 at Spurs’ temporary home of Wembley. They have won eight and drawn four of the games in that run.
Last season, the Reds won both Premier League games against Spurs by the same scoreline, triumphing 2-1 on each occasion. The first of those games was at Wembley in October 2018, and the second at Anfield in March 2019.

Liverpool striker Mo Salah has an excellent recent record against Spurs, having scored six goals against them in his last eight games in all competitions. Four of those goals have come in a Liverpool shirt, while the others have come when he was playing for Basel and Fiorentina. So far in his eight Premier League appearances in 2019/20, the Egyptian has hit four goals and provided three assists for his team mates.

Tottenham striker Harry Kane has a good personal record against the Reds. The England international has scored five goals and provided two assists in nine Premier League appearances against Liverpool. He failed to score a Premier League goal against them last season, though. In his nine Premier League appearances so far this season, Kane has scored five goals and provided one assist. One of those goals has come from the penalty spot, and four have been scored with his right foot.
