The FA Cup fourth round replays are on this midweek, and Championship promotion contenders Middlesbrough are picked up for TV coverage away at League Two side Newport County on Tuesday (kick-off 19:45).
Boro boss Tony Pulis is back in his native Wales for an away tie which sets up a home game with outright FA Cup favourites Manchester City in the next round.
Teesside team Middlesbrough bring very strong league form on the road into this match. Hosts Newport have lost just three games at home all season, and only once since mid-September, so something’s got to give.
Coral are offering punters an enhanced 3/1 about both teams scoring in the second half of this FA Cup tie. Given both clubs’ recent results, that looks very generous.
In the original tie at the Riversdie both Boro and County netted during the second half with Matt Dolan grabbing a late equaliser that cancelled out Daniel Ayala’s opener.
Plenty points to both scoring second half goals
Middlesbrough included, three of Newport’s last six opponents have joined them in finding the target after half-time. County themselves have scored in the second half in four of their previous six games.
Pulis’ promotion hopefuls, meanwhile, have seen both them and the opposition net following the interval in three of their last four matches.
Boro have also scored second half goals in seven consecutive games coming into this trip to South Wales, so both they and the home team are well-versed in striking later on.
Eight of Middlesbrough leading marksman Britt Assombalonga’s 11 goals in all competitions this season have come after half-time.
With over half of his tally coming on the road too, that means Pulis has a performer who seems to do well on the road after the interval.
Newport striker Jamille Matt, meanwhile, has 11 second half goals this season so far, so he’s also been very effective later on in games.
Bet of the day: Both teams to score in second half of Newport County v Middlesbrough at 3/1 with Coral.
